I guess this means we could be seeing merchandise at NYCC this fall? I know I wanna see...

Now if only someone could make a composite pic based on everything we've seen so far.

Soooo my thoughts...Hmmmm

I am VERY happy.....this goes along with what we were able to see in Hall H. I was certain that we'd get a roughed up texture on the body like we are used to, dark skin badass mo-fo and lookie here....the potential for emotional conveyance.

No ears...no problem here.
Gills? Why not? People who criticize that potential element just want to fight. Plus when he lights up stuff with this breath, I'd love to see some of it spill out of the gills..that would be a neat effect.

Dorsal plates look in line with what I saw and what the poster conveys which pleases me greatly.

As for the smooth texture and smaller sized teeth, this could be the by product of radiation burning or even atomic breath scaring. Could also be the smoother skin allows the expressions to be more visible, IDK but it doesn't bother me in the least. The teeth just look natural to me, like they've been well used and not some pearly white fangs like say, GMK. Many times the teeth look a bit cartoony so I like them just fine.

So the snout is shorter, the lower jaw is a bit beefier which was a complaint on many Godzilla designs that the lower jaw was too flimsy looking.

Haters are gonna hate, but the ones that kill me are "Looks more like GINO than Godzilla" WTF???? Whatever...sometimes you can never win.
You must show no mercy, nor have any belief whatsoever in how others judge you... for your greatness will silence them all!

There are people who HATE the gills.

I'm sorry, but that's my number one FAVORITE thing about the design. It's a small little quirk, something different, that does nothing but add to the uniqueness of this iteration.

Licensing expo... Maybe some merch was available there? Not as far fetched as it seems since expos like this is how power rangers and transformers toys are leaked.

We don't even know if they are gills. It could simply be texturing. I personally find the inclusion of gills a bit odd since Godzilla has been traditionally thought of as a mutated Dino but its not a huge deal to me since he's obviously aquatic. The cool thing about this design is that it is very obviously Godzilla. That's the main thing here.

I like the design. I'm more relieved that it's officially not a GINO type design.

If I had to point out things I don't like that much about it:

The eyes look to warm. This may just be the angle but it feels too human looking.
The teeth are too small. I want larger fangs.
The nostrils are waaaay to spaced out which is probably one of the biggest design changes of this Godzilla. The way it frames his face results in a boxy looking snout. One Reddit comment I saw compared it to Barney, and I'd tend to slight agree. I can see a resemblance.

Again, I'm glad that the design is traditional. I like that it isn't cobra-zilla. The Godzilla encounter demonstrated that he can still be terrifying with this design.

The gills (if that's what they are) are so subtle they don't disrupt the overall 'Godzilla-ness' of the design, but provide a cool little detail. It makes sense, since we've always know Godzilla is a truly amphibious creature that can stay on land and in the water indefinitely.

Tokyo, a smoldering memorial to the unknown, an unknown which at this very moment still prevails and could at any time lash out with its terrible destruction anywhere else in the world.
