So, the complaints are that they chose someone based on his having directed related material (gasp!), and that the choice of director might not even matter, because the author thinks that special effects are the only important part of a Godzilla movie?

I think everyone here would like to see this movie succeed, but do we really need to post a link to every piece of a negative press? Some people want to remain cautious and that's fine. They've been slighted by an American film once before. They don't want to hype themselves up for a disappointment which is still a possibility despite the good PRELIMINARY signs.

I believe in Schrodinger's Godzilla movie which states that until it is watched, a Godzilla movie can be viewed as being both Terrible and awesome and everything in between all at the same time.
