Let me refine my description a bit. While Godzilla's more akin to a natural disaster in terms of collateral damage and so forth, my inclination is that he isn't driven by evil motivations to wipe us all out. Godzilla does what he does for reasons, (if in fact he can reason - as we define the word), that are entirely his own and do not always end up also being in our best interests. With reference to who's worse, the attacking monster or our "saviour" Godzilla... I compare that to saying your home is in the path of a forest fire. You just hope & pray that the torrential rainstorm that just started coming down will put out that fire - and won't wash away your home in the process.
(And I don't mean to slight or make little of any of you who might be having fire-related problems out west right now. The above statement was just a metaphoric comparison.)
