Most of the kaiju had something I really enjoyed about them.

I remember smiling at seeing Knifehead doing a doggie paddle while swimming to Anchorage (the fight in the storm and rough seas was cool). I agree that Leatherback had a ton of personality for the bit we got to see him, and I noticed the Gorilla-like aspects of the design when the fight with Gipsy Danger came on land. Onibaba was really cool (I loved the whole Tokyo sequence) and I really enjoyed seeing Bladehead in Sydney.

Otachi was easily my favorite, though. She was badass in every way, I'd love to see her fight with Godzilla or Gamera!

Knifehead was awesome. It's a shame he died so quickly. My biggest criticism for the fights is that either the Category 4 Kaiju were too weak, or the plasma cannon was too powerful. I really enjoyed the fighting, but I felt that most Japanese kaiju would have survived more of a beating first.

Slattern was awesome though. When I left the theater someone was complaining that he was too weak for a Category 5, and all I could think was: "He survived a direct nuclear blast and he's weak???"

Speaking of the 50,000 feet comment, while certainly quite high, it's nowhere near high enough to generate the speed in a fall that would produce the red-hot spaceship-like re-entry that we see in the film. Not a big deal and certainly forgivable given the "cool" factor, but I just wanted to point that out.
