Saw it again. Loved it... perhaps even more. I was a bit further from the screen this time, so I was able to take in the whole image better.

I'm definitely gonna need the 'art of' book... and the prequel comic.

... and yes, Otachi is definitely going on my all-time favorite kaiju list: she's a beautiful kind of a bat/pterodactyl with great wings, acid vomit (with inflating vomit sac!), and that uber-cool prehensile tail!

... and we got to meet the family!

We went to see this today and it was actually quite good. It isn't the best movie in the world, as it lacks character development and that much of a plot, but the monster action is pretty cool. There was quite a few moments that made me think of Evangelion in it, some seemed homages to Ultraman, Godzilla, etc. It was far better than Iron Man 3, but not as good as Star Trek or Monsters University. On the down side, it does feature several cliches, but that was to be expected. Overall, you should definitely see it in theaters as it is worth seeing on the big screen. Oh, and Ron Perlman is down right awesome. Lastly, there isn't anything after the credits, but there is something during them, so once you see that scene, you are good to go. I give it a 7.5/10.

BTW, I also thought it was implied that Hannibal ha drifted into a brain since he seemed to know what the scientist dude did and called him stupid for doing so.

To me, it was obvious that Raleigh and Mako's stories were wafer thin, so the transition to the scientists and Hannibal was a welcome one. All in all, the pacing never lagged in my eyes. I loved the film and would enjoy seeing more of the world, or perhaps a darker turn, in the sequels.

I LOVED the movie but my number one complaint is that there is only two speaking roles for female characters in this movie and [spoilers] one of them has nothing of consequence to say before getting killed off [/spoilers]... Maybe there was more than that but I'd need to see the movie again to be sure (was the refugee that had lines in the shelter female?)

Just curious. For those who liked it, why keep giving us a laundry list of thing of negative aspects? Sure, there are one or two things I would have liked to have seen (or not seen), but the movie didn’t go that way, so I just moved on and enjoyed it for what it was.

This was meant to be a homage to Godzilla and Harryhausen monster films. And guess what? Those movies weren’t perfect either! In “Monster Zeroâ€
