I admit that I probably read a bit too much into his adorable, pug-like face, but yeah, this list isn't perfect. It's just meant to kind of illustrate a point. A reason why a lot of us prefer kaiju to their western counterparts is infact BECAUSE of their unique personalites. Most western monsters are strictly of the smash and kill variety. Occasionally, there are a few monsters who lust after human women, who are meant to be our sort of avatars of feelings of unrequited love, but really, that's a pretty shallow emotion to explore and try to personalize a monster with.

One of the reasons I think Godzilla has been on the decline is because of how much he lacks a personality since the 90s.

I think GMK Baragon has personality. The original is pretty much just an animal, but it works for that particular film.


I'm also flabbergasted that somebody thinks Gigan has NO personality.

Either one.

Both Gigans are hilarious.

I'm so excited for this movie, btw.

I mean, I'd honestly be excited for any GDT film because they've all been great so far - but a kaiju movie? I'm a happy guy!
