So with a new interest in Pulgasari after last nights screening of a bootleg tape at Destroy All Drafthouses, I was googling and came across this photobucket album with three pages worth of really cool behind the scenes photos from the production.

I know the basic premise of how this film got made (basically whats on Wikipedia) but I'm dying to know more! Does anyone know how Ken Satsuma, Teruyoshi Nakano, and the Toho spfx crew got involved? Were they also somehow forced into it against their will or were they hired legitimately? And if they were hired of their own free will, what gives? Did North Korea actually have good (or good enough) relations with Japan in the mid eighties?
