You know what, I had M1 figures on my brain last night as I went to sleep lol. It got me thinking though, I think that maybe...being able to appreciate figures like M1, Gigabrains, Marmits and Artstorms are kind of a sign of maturity in a collector. I know when I started collecting I really only wanted Bandai figures, then it moved to X Plus...it's pretty much during this recent run (the last few years) of ultra expensive X Plus figures where I came to the revalization that you really can only have one super detailed figure of your favorite kaiju before it becomes redundant. You can maybe slide by with different scales but really, stuff like M1 figures allows us to collect an almost infinite number of figures.
Plus, there's just something so stylistically great, and Japanese, about these figures. They were designer vinyl before it became hip and trendy.
Now, I'm not saying people should only collect M1s and Marmits ect. But I think having some in your collection deff says something about the collector.
That's just my thoughts anyways.
