Perhaps it's because he doesn't look anything even remotely like his comic book counterpart? (I really don't know, I'm just making a guess - not much of a Spiderman follower. Still haven't even seen the last film)

All I know is when I hear the name Electro, I think of the following, so seeing a blue guy in a hoodie certainly struck me as a shock (pun TOTALLY intended)
