The plot thickens. Rumor has it that Dinklage will be the main antagonist.

So who knows what the hell this means. I'm sure a bunch of nerds are gonna try and figure out which mutant he'll be, but my guess is he'll just be an anti-mutant politician.

I don't think they're trying to restart the original trilogy again. I think they're doing this precisely because they know there's no more potential in doing that after The Last Stand, and it's only going to get harder to get everybody from a 13-year-old franchise back together on one project as time goes by and people move on with their careers.

First Class was their attempt at keeping their film series going with a new cast without having to reboot it entirely like Sony did with The Amazing Spider-Man or Marvel did with The Incredible Hulk. First Class didn't do as well at the domestic box office as any of the X-Men films that came before it, so I think Days of Future Past is Fox's attempt at leveraging more audience interest from the original trilogy into their prequel series, in the hope that it will be a crowd-pleaser and draw more people to see a future prequel-sequel with the First Class cast.

Basically, this is Fox doing what Warner Bros. and DC Comics aren't doing and just outright following Marvel's ensemble strategy that worked for The Avengers using their multiple X-Men casts, rather than trying to shoehorn Daredevil or the Fantastic Four into a movie with them. No complaints from me! I'm not worried about character screentime either because this will definitely be over two hours long and Singer did a great job of balancing the casts in the first two films.

Well Nicholas Hault was confirmed to come back as Beast a long time ago.

Speaking of which, I really hope they fix the makeup on him. He could barley move his mouth in First Class, and when he had to talk a lot, they put an awful CGI mouth over him and it was terrible.

The only major players they have to bring back now are Havok and Banshee (and maybe a couple of Magneto's peeps- we know January Jones isn't coming back, but I at least hope they recast Emma Frost cuz her escape was where the last movie ended).

They won't confirm Cyclops or Jean because that would be giving away too much (since they're supposed to be dead)
