The superhero movies have adapted that ole comic book industry standard: the house style.

I've stopped going to see superhero movies and, well, big blockbusters of almost all stripes for largely the reasons you listed. These types of movies usually aren't bad in the least, but in the end they're forgettable and I'd rather spend my time on stuff I actually like (and/or trying out new media to see if I like it). It's there, I know what it is, I've seen it - unless it sounds really interesting I don't have to got see the new one.

I'll see Ant Man because Wright's awesome. I'll see whatever GDT makes. After Cars 2 I'm not even making a point to see every Pixar film. I hear that Brave is okay, but I still haven't seen it.

I can't be excited for Iron Man, but I never get all that excited for the Iron Man films. Really none of the Marvel films get me SUPER EXCITED. It's usually when the movie is almost out and I'm re-watching the previous films that something clicks and I give a "OH GODZILLA! WHAT TERRIBLE LANGUAGE!".

I mean the only comic book films I can recall being SUPER excited for recently were First Class and The Dark Knight Rises.

I've been excited for the two Hellboy films.... and that's it.

I mean, my favorite comic book character (well, one of them) directed by one of my favorite directors! How are any of these other films going to ever live up to that?!

Who the hell is that guy anyway? I haven't seen his name in any of the articles I've read.

Sparks suck. Explosions are better, though still not really cool. I don't know. A pic of Iron Man in nearly demolished armor, with a silhouette of The Mandarin and Tony's destroyed house in the background would be cool, I think.
