I know I shouldn't spend the money on yet anther MosuGoji...

I know I shouldn't...

But... but... but...

WANT!!!!!

Although, I would also have preferred the '54 suit first, because that, above all others, will always be Godzilla to me. Everything else is just an interpretation.
Tokyo, a smoldering memorial to the unknown, an unknown which at this very moment still prevails and could at any time lash out with its terrible destruction anywhere else in the world.

Man, I honestly don't know how I feel about the '64... I think it sums up how I feel about monsterarts as a whole. I want to be excited for this line, but for some reason that I can't quite define, I'm just not that into it.

I think seeing better images (or, better yet, seeing it in person) might help me make up my mind. But over all, while I love the idea of monsterarts figures, something about the actual execution leaves me feeling less excited than I want to be. I think part of the problem is that I was really excited about the first Godzilla, once I actually got him in hand, he didn't WOW me the way I had anticipated. I mean, he's cool and I'm glad to have him. But I just expected my socks to be blown futher off. As it is, they just kind of sagged around my ankles.

I thought character choice was playing a big role in it, but now that they're getting to characters I really like, I still feel a little lukewarm and it's making me rethink it. Perhaps I've just gotten really attached to the more stylized figures from Gigbrain and Marmit where capturing the essence and personality is more important to me than the clinical screen-accuracy of a figure. But I still like super realistic figures. I think maybe it's also that they go a little TOO far with the articulation. I mean, does G'64 really NEED a joint in the middle of his foot? It just looks odd & seems like articulation just for the sake of it without concern for useability. I mean, did anyone stop & think, "hmm, is the extra mobility we'd get out of this particualr joint really worth the sacrifice in aesthetics?"

It's weird too because I really like my Revoltech Rodan and Mothra. They're highly articulated and realistic, and one could argue the joints are even more obvious/obtrusive than MonsterArts. But the joints on them seemvery well though out and useful. They didn't throw in extra joints that weren't really necessary or beneficial just for the sake of having them.

I dunno, maybe I'm just so enamored with my Gigabrain G'64 (i REALLY like that figure, a LOT) that it's near impossible for anyone to impress me with a new G'64.

I mean, this MA does look cool. The front-on shot looks particularly cool.

Maybe I'm also just dreading having this one expensive line where I want to get a whole bunch of them, but they come out in fairly rapid succesion that it becomes a lot of work to keep up with them (or expensive to catch up later). And that combined with the new Star Wars 6-inch line that I'm (unsuccessfully) trying not to get sucked in to.

Found out some more info about the Diamond Select Gillman, as I asked about the head and hand articulation.

Quote: "It has hinged wrists and a ball jointed neck, I believe." End Quote.
