So apparently we have to get the 3D Blu-Ray release to get the movie. Do THAT many people even have 3D TVs and BD players that they're already phasing out regular BD releases?

And what's up with the "3D and 2d versions on one disc" thing? Am I still gonna be able to get this?

So nobody answered my question. Can anybody tell me whether this will be playable in a non-3D player? Both 2D and 3D versions are on the same disc, so I'm confused.

I wanna know if I should pre-order the BD or just get the DVD version if they're actually f*cking us non-3D folks over.

Anyone else having issues watching the bluray on a standard player? I might have just got a bad disc...

So I have watched this movie twice since it came out to video. I was very impressed with it and wished the trailers had actually sold me on it so I could have seen it in theaters (and in 3D).

the issues with the 2-D BD presentation are discouraging to hear about...it's part of why I still haven't seen the film.

But it's on my short-list (along with The Skin I Live in, Killer Joe, and my fifth viewing of The Dark Knight Rises)

JUST got done watching this. Not sure that I LOVED it, but I really liked it a lot. There were like two or three times watching it where I felt things were very similar to Assault on Precinct 13 or They Live...but I just didn't think this had the one-liners that They Live has to REALLY make me fall in love.

One thing I can say I was SUPER SUPER glad was dropped was the slow-mo stuff...because the initial raid was like the third time we see it in the film, and by that point, I was already getting irritated with it. Once the movie moves on past that point, there's some great stuff.

In terms of all these movies today that are trying to recapture the magic of the 80s action flicks, this one is far and away the best one I've seen. I just wish there were some more quotable moments. There's some decent dry/dark humor from Dredd at various points, but just not QUITE enough for my unabashed love.

My "less than in love" feeling MIGHT be due to just having watched They Live yesterday, though...
I'll have to come back around to this one eventually. Maybe I'll buy it down the line, and revisit it then...

The Slo-Mo stuff is less grating (and even beautiful and hypnotic) on the big screen and in 3D. That's one thing that people seeing this at home are really missing out on.

I kinda liked the lack of one-liners. That's what the Stallone movie was for. Dredd's no-nonsense personality isn't the type to make quips. And I find the dry humor (like when he just goes "...yup...") to be much funnier and cooler anyway.
