The main problem with IDW's current ongoing Godzilla series, besides the endless action movie cliches in the writing, is that they've taken a good, simple story and streeeeeeeeetched it out to fill 12 issues, which makes most of the individual entries unfulfilling. This whole premise of a team of monster bounty hunters unwittingly trapping all of Earth's monsters on an island just prior to an invasion of space monsters could have easily been boiled down to five or six issues. Instead, IDW have been treating individual issues of the ongoing series less like chapters of a book and more like few-minute chunks of one overlong movie.
They just need to cut to the chase. Come up with a story, tell it in a handful of issues, then start a new story with the same characters that lasts for a few more issues. Continue this process and you have yourself a sustainable ongoing series.
I think Gangsters & Goliaths and The Half-Century War have been the best multi-issue stories to come out of IDW's line. I'd love to see a continuation of Legends #3.
