Far more interesting looking than last year's special.

Tokyo, a smoldering memorial to the unknown, an unknown which at this very moment still prevails and could at any time lash out with its terrible destruction anywhere else in the world.

I LOVED that Christmas special, guys. Best episode of Doctor Who in a long long time for me.

I didn't quite buy The Doctor's deep depression. I mean, Matt Smith has embued his version of the character with such joy it's kinda hard for me to swallow. Loved the return of Vastra and the inexplicably back-to-life Strax, and loved the retro-tastic new title sequence!

Also, got a Tardis toy for Christmas. It lights up and makes whooshing sounds and everything!

I had grown so sick of Matt Smith Doctor's seeming pointlessness with Amy/Rory/River around that it was beautiful to see a new dimension to the show. Excellent writing for this episode and loved all the new reveals.

^I loved Matt's performance, I just don't think his Doctor would be capable of ignoring a potential alien threat to Earth like he seemed to be ready to do for most of this episode. If anything, it would be unwise to let the Earth get destroyed when he's apparently abandoned traveling and living on the Earth.

So I've been kind of in an obsessive frenzy over Doctor Who for the past couple of weeks. Rewatched the first half of series six, then caught up on the 2011 Christmas special, series 6b, series 7a (in a single night/morning), watched yesterday's Christmas special and then ran out and bought series 5 and 6 on blu-ray for $40 at Best Buy today (lovely deal, if I do say so myself). I f*cking LOVE Moffat and Smith's series. URF. I've only seen the first series and a half from RTD's run (and some clips here and there from other parts) but, well, I just can't get excited about it. I enjoy an episode or two when I sit down to watch some but it's so easy to set aside and forget for months. From series five onwards, I'm positively rabid for more material, especially after all the great reveals in The Snowmen. SERIES 7B NEEDS TO GET HERE NOW.

WOW. Loved this. Easily one of my favorite Matt Smith episodes. So glad the Ponds are gone, Clara is awesome. :D

Great Christmas special, its a lot better than last year's but still not as good as A Christmas Carol which was amazing.

I think Clara will make a great companion.

I'm going to miss the Ponds, but I'm ready for Clara just as much. Bring on souflet-girl. :D

Did anybody else catch Ian Mckellen's voice as the bad guy? I forgot to read the credits, but that had to be him. Awesome.

This is the first Christmas special I've seen. I've only just got into this show, and I've been catching up on it via Amazon Instant Video. Now I can't imagine life without it.
