Do we have any sort of timeline at all for the releases that were shown a few pages back? The new Zero, the Jonias, etc.?

Nope, and don't expect one. Unless a figure had a date at a Tamashii show, there's no guarantee it'll even be released. The only new figure that got a date was Jack, and obviously he already went up for preorder.

EDIT: That said, just about everything unreleased that was shown at Tamashii Nation 2012 for Ultra-Act has been shown off in magazine scans. There's no release dates for any of them (or the many Figuarts also shown off), but as these are new images and not taken from the event floor itself.

The only Ultra-Acts not pictured are Powered, Jonias, Ultraman Types A and B, and Zetton (wtf).

Got my Ultra-Act Ultraman Max a few days ago. I've been fiddling around with it, and now, it's review time.

Box looks cool. I personally like the newer design more. It pops.

Accessories.
Image

Color timer. Easy to replace and pretty to look at.
Image

Max Sword + hand piece. Cool concept, but he cant actually hold it like he did in the tv show.
Image

Some grabby hands for a variety of poses (if you get creative).
Image
Image

And two left-handed "karate chop" hands, for some reason. Anyone have a set of hands that they'd wanna trade? XD
Image

The Max Cannon, which is placed by removing the Max Spark. Unfortunately, it doesnt hold peg in very easily, and when I forced it in, it expanded the holes, making it impossible for the normal Max Spark to stay in. Thankfully though, 30 mins in the freezer fixed that right up.

The Max Galaxy, which is a separate hand piece. It even comes with a nifty little energy burst!
Image

Overall, good accessories. The hands are varied enough to convey a multitude of poses and expressions, and the beam effects are nice for displays.

Now into Max himself.

He's accurately detailed, and has no paint bleed whatsoever. The eyes and Max spark have clear pieces which only adds to the authenticity.
Image
Image

He's also extremely posable, and can even balance on one foot (but balancing him in general is still tricky). His joints are tight, and arent at all flimsy, even after extensive play.

Lastly, here's Max compared to UA Gomora and MA Godzilla.
Image

Overall, Max is a solid buy, and at HobbyLinkJapan, he was part of their Black Friday sale. He was about $18, and with EMS shipping, he came out to just $34.90, a steal.

Max was my introduction to the Ultraman series, so I feel it's appropriate that my first UA Ultraman would be him. His joints are tight, the paint is expertly applied, he comes with fun extras, and is generally a fun figure to fiddle around with. He has given me more confidence in the UA line, as some of the older figures tended to have joint problems. These new UA figures are definitely a more attractive option for me, now that Max has proven that the Ultras can be just as fun to own as the kaiju. I am now looking forward to Taro and Ace Killer, and hopefully, the renewal Ultraman.

BUT!

Godzilla and MA come first, and Spacegodzilla aint getting any younger, so sorry UA. =P

^Nice review, G2000!

Pics are really nice and detailed, and I got a kick out of your background too!

Sucks about the two left hands. Did you contact HLJ about it?

I have to wait a bit more for my Max as I used SAL, but you couldn't beat HLJ's price when he was on sale.

That's exactly what they can do. HLJ can contact Bandai and get a replacement part. Stuff like that happens all the time. Japanese toy companies are great about addressing customer issues like that.

Sometimes when someone like Bandai can't help or if the issue is serious enough you could be issued an entirely new figure, but for an issue like this that's very unlikely.

Woooooooooooo!

Ok, so I went ahead and contacted HLJ about Max and...they cant send a replacement part.

So instead, they're sending a whole nother figure, free of charge.

Dayum.

So...dont suppose anyone would like to buy/trade for the spare?

Got my Ultra-Act Ultraman Max in the mail from HLJ:

Image

He looks good, however I ran into the following problem Godzilla 2000 is rather all too familiar with...

Image

HLJ is already sending me a replacement, and I'm becoming more convinced to give them more of my business thanks to their good customer service. They responded pretty quickly.

Still, I'll keep and display this Max at my desk. He has enough other hands and accessories that can be used.

Image

Hopefully, I'll get to review these guys in the near future.

Got my replacement Max yesterday, and while he did come with the proper hand, it had some weird extra material that probably was supposed to be cut off.

Nothing a nail file and a steady hand couldnt fix, though.

Hopefully I can sell the spare Max soon and earn some cash for the holidays.

Clicking on it will expand to large pic. Clicking on the pic a second time will expand it again to even larger.

Anyone know of any place I could still pre-order the Ultraman Jack Ultra Act figure? Seems like it's sold out everywhere :(
