Sources tell THR that each will write separate projects, not necessarily "Episode 8" and "Episode 9" -- a plan similar to Marvel's movies around "The Avengers."
[quote="Borys Kit "]This story first appeared in the Dec. 7 issue of The Hollywood Reporter magazine.

The post-George Lucas Star Wars universe slowly is taking shape. Soon after it was announced Oct. 30 that Disney would acquire Lucasfilm for $4.05 billion, it was revealed that Oscar winner Michael Arndt (Little Miss Sunshine) had written a 40- to 50-page treatment for the new trilogy and would be writing the script for Star Wars: Episode VII.

Then reports emerged the week of Nov. 19 that The Empire Strikes Back’s Lawrence Kasdan (CAA, Greenberg Glusker) and Sherlock Holmes’ Simon Kinberg (CAA, Jackoway Tyerman) would be writing and producing Episode VIII and Episode IX, even as Disney and Lucasfilm refused to confirm their top-secret plans.

But now insiders tell THR that while Kasdan and Kinberg have indeed been hired to work on the Star Wars franchise, they will be writing separate projects (hence the reason why they also would receive producer credits), not necessarily Episode VIII and Episode IX.

Their scripts could turn into official “Episodesâ€

ugh...do we really need half-episodes? i mean, that basically sounds like what they are doing. rather than just follow a cast of characters through a trilogy, they are going to give everyone and their mother a spinoff movie as well...

here come the Bobba Fett solo film...

Jon Favreau

Postby mr.negativity » Fri Nov 30, 2012 4:53 pm

From Variety:
11/01/2012

From The Playlist November 11, 2012:

[quote]
As for Favreau, he doesn't come right out and say he wouldn't direct, and seems curious about the direction this next series of movies will go. Moreover, he's already been part of the "Star Wars" franchise, having lent his voice to "Clone Wars," and has interviewed George Lucas at film festivals as well. And because of that he's "just giddy, first and foremost as a fan, to see what happens with it. I think there is a lot of question marks of how they are going to do it, and who they are going to do it with, and what the story is going to be about; but to say that I am not excited about it is definitely an understatement. We’ll see.â€

[quote="OLIVIA MARNE"]The director of “Star Wars Episode 7″ will be announced next month, Lucasfilm chief Kathleen Kennedy tells ABC Radio.

“I have no immediate update, but hopefully in January I’ll have something that I can sayâ€

Tokyo, a smoldering memorial to the unknown, an unknown which at this very moment still prevails and could at any time lash out with its terrible destruction anywhere else in the world.
