My main problem with Bond films in recent years is that they take themselves way too seriously. I want the super gadget using...pulp hero type character Bond used to be...in short..I want to have fun watching a Bond film. If Skyfall is that kind of film, I will want to see it.

Skyfall - Wow, what can I say about this movie? It was down right amazing!!! It is not only now my fourth favorite Bond movie (knocking Thunderball to #5), but it is also the best movie of 2012 hands down. Avengers was incredible, but the events, cinematography, character development, and action scenes are even better. It's story keeps you guessing on what is going to happen and Bardem's character is by far the best villain of the series since Sanchez in Licence to Kill. Every scene with Q was full of brilliant dialog and the final bits of the movie are as unforgettable as those found in On Her Majesty's Secret Service. There are multiple homages to the previous movies and it was truly worthy of being the movie for its 50th anniversary. Not to mention it was well worth the four year wait from Quantum.

Oh yeah, I also like how the villains seem to be named off of colors. Mr White, Dominic Greene, and now Silver.

BTW, who found it awesome that Voldemort is now in charge of MI6? I knew the name of the character sounded familiar and kept thinking about it during the movie when it hit me that that was M's name in the books.

I loved the whole M thing, and the other pieces of the Bond puzzle falling into place by the end of the film.

The nice thing about this, is that the movie is pretty stand-alone, but it still completes the thematic duties first taken on by Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace. It finishes the origin story. It's like the end of the 09' Star Trek film wherein all of the TOS cast are assembled and ready to head out on the 5 year mission. Bond is not just Bond (which he's pretty much established as by the end of Casino Royale), but his support team is in place.

For spoilers, my favorite scenes are when Bond is fighting the sniper infront of the billboard with all of the lights and the scenes with the house on fire in the background. Amazing.

People are complaining over on some other forums about it. This is not the Roger Moore series, It is a transitional story and a movie that had to be made. There are a lot of references to old films, the Aston Martin, M’s office with the Leather door, Bond talking to Q and saying “you must be jokingâ€

I haven't seen the movie, but I remembered the director saying there was a big Nolan Batman influence on this movie. Now that's one thing, but what's this I hear about Bond being the orphan of two rich land owners, complete with grizzled but tough groundskeeper ala Alfred, Javier playing a Joker-esque villain with a disfigured smile and maniacal laugh and Bond's mirror image, Bond having a Bond-cave under a waterfall or something, etc etc?

Did they just copy and paste the Dark Knight into a Bond movie or something?

I only ask cuz I read this:

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/christoph ... 93602.html

And it sounds like they kinda copped everything cool about Batman and pasted it onto James Bond. :?
