I don't want the enemy monster to be killed because I am sick of major villains/enemies getting killed off so they can never return. One of the things I love about the new Marvel superhero films is the villains survive. Abomination, whiplash, Red Skull, Loki etc can all make reappearances. In most other superhero movies though the credits don't roll till the villain is dead and decomposing.

If Anguirus were in this film he doesn't have to be Godzilla's ally. I would love though if he were only defeated and not killed so he could make cameos. Same for Hedorah, Gigan, Ghidorah etc.

That said I think Hedorah would be the best first time villain. Godzilla could have a very vague explanation that the radiation he is emitting can be traced back to (random atom bomb test) and that he shares certain dinosaurian characteristics. Thats all you need. Hedorah however could fit in as a genetic experiment gone awry to create an organism capable of cleaning up oil spills and other types of carbon pollution.

Whiplash died in Iron Man 2.

I think the villain monster should die in certain cases. Hedorah, for instance shouldn't be left alive, neither should some new monster made specifically for Godzilla to defeat. Rodan, yeah. Angilas, yeah. Mothra, yeah. I'm not really picky about others living or dying.
