Even if Emmerich did say it, Devlin was his writing/producing partner and their disdain for the old Godzilla and their intention to make "the new, better Godzilla" shows in spades.

Devlin was the one that said the old Godzilla was "a fat guy in a stupid suit."

These recent comments are respectable in that he owns up to his movie sucking, but the part about "loving Godzilla" is just him trying to save face.

Eh... I'm not liking how they're "playing" with us fans. Could be nothing, like them just messing with us..... OR could be a hint that there will indeed be an alien kaiju in the film.

maybe it's an inside joke referring to the title of Monsters... when the creatures in the movie are really just extraordinary aliens and not "monsters" at all!
