All Star Superman: Supes gets even more powerful, and smarter as well.
But at a cost, he is slowly dieing. He then tells Lois the truth & gives her a serum for temporary super-powers (24 hours worth). Of course Lex Luthor is involved as well. He caused the accident that gave Supes the new powers & problems. He also gets his hands on the serum, and proceeded to turn the sun red (kinda similar to an old Super Friends episode). The being then turns the sun blue, and Supes (whom is becoming pure energy by now) flys into it to "fix" it. Lex gives a doctor the genetic code of Supes & says to make more serum, they need the ovum of a healthy woman....
Lois is then shown sitting in the park near a statue of Supes & says "he will be back".

Hulk Vs.: two short movies about The Hulk fighting other Marvel heroes.
First was Thor: Loki gets Bruce Banner & makes him mad. Then with the help of Alora (Enchantress) separates Bruce & The Hulk. Loki then controls the Hulk to fight Thor (while Odin is sleeping). Banner gets killed, and the Hulk breaks the spell. So Loki & Thor temporarily team up to get Banner's soul from Hel. Banner then makes the sacrifice & rejoins Hulk & Hulk finally calmed down.
Second was Wolverine: Wolverine is sent in to investigate a town's destruction. Which was caused by the Hulk. He meets Banner, but then Banner gets mad & Hulk comes out. Wolverine takes him on.
But then gets knocked out for a while. Then it shifts into a Wolverine origin story (with Sabertooth, Deadpool, Deathstrike, & Omega Red). The doctor that turned Logan into Wolverine (or Weapon X) wants to use Hulk in the same way. Wolverine sets Banner free, and to get him to Hulk out stabs him in the stomach. Hulk shows up and beats up pretty much everybody & tears down the facility. Then throws Wolverine across a long distance, Hulk then jumps nearby and the fight resumes...the end?
This was kinda a set-up for Wolverine & The X-Men since Steve Blum voiced Wolverine in this movie.

Superman vs. The Elite

A movie that really explains why Superman is so important...and why his philosophy is so inspiring.

Loved it.

Jiro Dreams of Sushi

Second documentary I've watched this year that I absolutely loved (the other one was Being Elmo)

Oh, and another documentary that's a year or two old that I just saw and loved this year as well was The Invention of Dr. Nakamats (on Netflix streaming last time I checked)

Spartacus

Seen as a 70mm print of the 1991 Harris/Katz restoration, at the great AFI Silver in Silver Spring, MD. I hadn't seen this film in about twelve years, and I hadn't remembered liking it all that much. My 20-year old self's reasoning seems to have been finding some of the political rhetoric a little too modern to be coming out of the mouths of ancient Romans, but as my perspective as broadened, I've learned that political rhetoric actually hasn't been any different across the breadth of human history, and that there actually isn't that much of that kind of dialogue in the film, anyway.

That, or I was smoking crack.

Having said that, it was a thrilling experience, with 70mm still trumping any of the digital exhibitions that I've seen!

For Your Eyes Only (1981) Yawn. I may hate Moonraker, but its more fun than this film. The post Spy Who Loved Me Moore films are my least favorite era in Bond's history.

Superman & Shazzam The Return of Black Adam: Touted as a team-up movie with Supes & Captain Marvel, it's really a bunch of shorts about other DC characters. It does have the team-up but it's more of an origin story for Captain Marvel. Then we had Spectre: a hero of vengeance that kills those who do wrong (plus he's a ghost). Green Arrow: Pretty good action & story. Arrow is on the way to the airport to pick up Black Canary when he gets involved with a young girl whom is royalty. Jonah Hex was the last one it was kinda grim, basically an outlaw gets killed by a madam at a saloon. Jonah is after the bounty on the guy, so he forces the woman to take him to the body. Then he leaves her in the mineshaft with all the other people she killed.

Underworld Awakening: decent action, lame story, and rather bad looking CGI. Glad this was not watched in the theater, or I might have got POed.
It sets up for yet another sequel...
Though as usual Kate Beckinsale looks nice in tight leather outfits...

The Assault: French movie about terrorists hijacking a plane. Pretty good stuff, though it had a few "problems". Not sure if this was a movie based on real events, but it kept giving dates from 1994. The main problems (especially after 9/11) were the multiple people on the plane Vs 4 guys (big deal they had guns) if they ganged up on them they probably could of took them. The other problem was the anti-terroirsts barely use the snipers.
The snipers saw all 4 guys through the windows of the plane. They could have easily taken out them (there were 4 snipers). Instead of risking both the hostages & SWAT team's lives when they finally forcibly board the plane.

Finally saw Toho's "House" Saturday night at Jared's birthday party.

...It was a movie.

Actually, I'm probably going out and buying it this evening before the Criterion half-off sale ends. :D

Saving Silverman- I haven't watched this film in ages and still pretty decent for a comedy film; though Netflix says they have the R version when it's actually the PG-13 version.

Joe Dirt- This is and has always been a guilty pleasure of mine.
