wow, i really don't follow music anymore...

maybe that's because thrash isn't really popular and i hate death/scream (and TONS of people tell me "oh you like <metallica, maiden, megadeth, slayer, anthrax, iced earth>? you'd LOVE <gojira, lamb of god, opeth>" and i effing hate those bands...

I also thought Endgame was REALLY weak and that's coming from a die-hard Megadeth fan. I like RISK!!! I just find Endgame to lack ANY hooks whatsoever and outside of the first two tracks, the title track and Headcrusher I find it to be actually quite bland...and Headcrusher is a not-as-good version of Sleepwalker.

A good band that I discovered in late 2009/early 2010 and absolutely LOVE is Volbeat. They've got a really cool, fun Metallica/Godsmack/Johnny Cash vibe...

While Bryan may disagree on me on this :P, but jelly, have you ever listened to Trivium's "Crusade" album. It's quite thrashy, not entirely thrashy though. I would not compare it to any of the bands you mentioned because I think that each band has their own sound, regardless of which genre they are in. However, I do think its worth checking out.

Yeah, I know what you mean about thrash, Jelly. This recent thrash revival has a lot of bands trying to be awesome and very few actually are.

I guess the days of amazing albums like By Inheritance, Victims Of Deception, Rust In Peace, Nosferatu, Think This and Energetic Disassembly really are over. :( Heathen did put out an awesome new album though. Vektor and Gama Bomb are pretty dang good too for newer bands.

In case you ever struggle to find new metal someplace, is more or less a directory for free albums. I haven't downloaded much from the list yet, but I can confirm that Lavagoat and High Priest of Saturn's self-titled releases are pretty decent doom metal, and The Last Alliance's heavy metal cover of "Moskau" is well done.
