Eh, I like some of the stuff Danny Elfman has done in the past few years. *shrug*, but back to spider-man!

It's weird that I can't like this more, because, despite the darker tone, I feel like its generally closer to what I'd want in a Spider-man movie. Maybe when I buy the blu-ray I'll just leave it and the Raimi films in a box and see if they'll breed something I like better.

That's how that works, right?

Just saw it. I don't see the appeal. It's been done, and better I think. Everyone I went with seemed to love it. I was the lone voice of negativity. I prefered Tobey as Peter, and the way that version of Peter was written. I could deff feel cuts and jumps in the movie where I suspect things were removed by the studio from the film. The Lizard is pretty bad (and I'm one of the few that liked his design from stills).

Let's see what else...Peter Parker/ Spider-Man. Well, good preformance, but he's not Peter to me. Makes for a pretty good Spidey though.

Gwen Stacey. Good enough in the role. Deff some foreshadowing of her fate at the end. I think she's shown to be a little too intelligent, and to have waaaay too much power at Oscorp.

Uncle Ben. Aunt May. Kinda prefer the originals even though they're serviceable here.

Decent score. My brother loved it. Elfman's was fine to me.

There are some pretty hamfisted things in this film. It's cheesy at times...moreso than the original film. The crane bit...wtf.

All that being said, it's not a bad movie..it's just pointless. I left wanting a sequel. That's all this film is really...a set up for a sequel. Peter isn't really the Spider Man we all know until the very end of the film. But at that point I didn't really care. It's a long film...felt long at least. The ending shot is so lame it's laughable btw. To me at least. The theater cheered and clapped at the film's end....moreso than in the two Avengers screenings I went to. Baffling.

Also, what the hell is up with lame post credits footage this summer? That type of footage shouldn't (ever happen, but if it has to) ever be ambiguous. It's supposed to be a tease...not a question. "Who the hell was that, Why should I care and that wasn't worth sticking around for" are not thoughts I should have after seeing a post credits scene.

Actually, if you want my thoughts just read Mouth's co-host's review he posted on the last page. Nailed it.

So I've gotta say I was impressed with this. I went in with unsure expectations and came out loving it. Andrew is a far better Peter than Tobey was in all three movies combined. Not to mention Emma Stone was a great Gwen Stacy and the chemistry between the two of them felt natural. In some ways, you might as well forget the previous movies existed, this puts them to shame. They took a more modern realistic approach to Spider-Man, but kept him a wise cracking smart ass the way he should be, especially to the car jacker. The build up of Peter becoming Spider-Man was well done, and the progression of him figuring his powers out was timed nicely instead of being all done in one morning. Not to mention he actually got bruised, whereas Peter seemed nearly immortal in the previous incarnations. It isn't better than The Avengers, and it sure as hell won't be anywhere near as good as The Dark Knight Rises, but it was definitely worth it. Oh, there is nothing after the credits, but there is a scene during the credits.

Kain i couldnt agree more. Just really wish theh didnt cut out the more violent scenes with lizard and definitely not the sewer scene with spidey lizard and the dude that was off to test the formula on vets.

I like post credit stuff because it rewards you for sitting through all of the credits (which I do at every movie even if I know there is nothing after them).

OMG I JUST SAW THIS AND IT WAS... um, it was ok.

A lot to like and a lot to dislike. A total mixed bag. But its 3 AM and I have a splitting headache, so I'll come back with my full thoughts tomorrow... For now, I'll just say my opinion falls somewhere right between KG and Dr. Kain.

And just for the hell of it, this is how I'd order the series:

Spider-Man
The Amazing Spider-Man
Spider-Man 2
Spider-Man 3

I'll talk about this in more detail tomorrow... for now, its time to relax and go to bed.
