"Star Andrew Garfield said days before the release of The Amazing Spider-Man that , "If we do [a sequel], I hope I can do it — I hope they'd let me do it. ... They already have a release date for the second one. But no script! So we have our priorities in order."

Even Garfield realizes that this is stupid.

I wonder if they even have the story down for the second one. I mean 2014 will be here in no time. I still think it's weird to green light a sequel, change the screenwriters, and apparently not talk to the actor about it at all.

The screenwriting change is the weirdest thing. It almost says "This will make money, but it's not good so we'll try to get it right the 2nd time round"

Don't make light of such things...it's practically guaranteed that there will be a pure Nick Cage film in the near future. I think it's a law of Hollywood.

When an actor has become a shadow of what he once was/could have been, he appears as every character in a movie:
Eddie Murphy
Adam Sandler
Cheech Marin
Arsenio Hall
Mike Myers
Gills.

Caught the midnight showing last night and was pretty surprised at how good this was. Andrew blows away Tobey in pretty much every way as both Peter and Spiderman.

The web slinging and the way spidey fights is worth the price of admission alone, I never wanted the sequences to stop.

Andrew and Emma displayed more chemistry in this one movie than Tobey and Dunst did in the entire trilogy.

SPOILERS

So heres my guess at the end credits. Osborn is having Connors work on this formula to help save him so I think its basically going to be the proto-goblin formula so whens hes talking to himself, its the Goblin not some multiple personality disorder. So IMO that was osborn in the cell.

Yeah, I figured that's who it was, but it was still...I dunno, kind of goofy/weird.

The film does a lot of things better than the Raimi films.
A better Peter Parker, A better Gwen Stacy.
The score is incredibly subpar. There seems like there's a smaller amount of cringe moments in Amazing compared to the Raimi Trilogy which is full of them. At the same time, I just didn't have as much fun with this as I did with those films.

Also, turns out Spider-man really wasn't being a douchebag. Flash deserved much worse than he got.
