I think the trailer for the Maniac remake actually looks pretty good. I think casting Elijah Wood (a total 180 from Joe Spinell in the original) might have been a stroke of genius. I also like the semi-POV angle here. Could be truly unnerving and cool if they did it right.

yeesh. What's wrong with movies indeed. I'd like things like this and Battleship if they just embraced how stupid they were being and had fun with it. Unfortunately the people making this will probably be under the impression this is a genuinely good idea.

Can't they reboot a property that actually has potential to be good? The only way to justify a Twilight remake would be to play up and deconstruct Bella's general sociopathy. Someone suggested that she's actually an amazing villain, and judging from else what I've heard about the books/movies, that sounds about right. That's the only approach to the material I'd care to see in a remake.

Whatever, though. Personally, I'm still waiting for them to take another shot at Doom. That movie was middle-of-the-road for me, when it could've been great.
