I started the actuall job last Saturday and by the end of the night of unloading trucks my back was killing me. See I have a really bad back from my five years working at a restaurant when I didn't lift the dish tubs properly because we'd get busy or lifting 60+lb trash bags full of left over food and throwing them in to the dumpster. Doing that for five years plus not having a physical job for over a year pretty much wrecked havoc on my back.

Later that night when I asked my bosses boss for a back brace because my boss wasn't in and ironically I know him from the restaurant; I was asked if I had a bad back when I replied yes and told him about telling the people who hired me that I had one he pretty much told me I need to ask for a new position or they would probably let me go.

Flash forward to Monday I called personal that afternoon and let them know the situation they said they'd try and find something and give them a few days so I hope they found something because I'm back to work tonight.

In other words I might be unemployed again.

Wow dude, sorry to hear that. Whatever goes down with the current job, keep pluggin' at it. A co-worker of mine was let go two years ago and the company recently let him back in. He had been searching but didn't get anything in between that time.

Another friend of mine recently got hired at a call station after an unmotivated job search. She pressed on after some pushing, and now she's got her steady 9-5.

So keep pluggin' at it and hang in there.

I have recently interviewed with a major oil and gas company and I am "the perfect candidate" they are working on getting an offer letter for me right now.

Only ONE problem...they are technically in a hiring freeze...supposedly they have an exemption for this position, but hearing that made me nervous...

Are you going to get a final paycheck from your previous employeer?

My job is a lot better, though I'm still considering looking for something with more pay. I'm going to wait for two months which is the end of what Wal-mart considers seasonal work I have a feeling that's when they're going to let me go if they're going to do it.

On a side note though if they do that I'll be able to collect unemployement from them.

I start tomorrow.
Fairly big oil company. Not one of the oil selling companies like Shell or Chevron, but if you know anything about the upstream side of the business, you've heard of my new employer: Schlumberger

The money is good, the job sounds like it will be pretty neat (and have opportunity for advancement in a fairly short amount of time), the only thing is the location...my previous job was something like 45 minutes to an hour away from where I live and this new place is like 10 to 15 minutes (maybe more, havent been there in traffic) farther...NOT looking forward to my commute as of right now...
