So what do you guys think of Chloe Moretz being cast as Carrie?
I think it is fine casting (she's an amazing actress). A lot has been made of it, but I don't have a problem with the casting... I'm sure she can pull it off. The problem is I just don't think we need another Carrie. DePalma nailed it the first time and it isn't a story that allows for a lot of different approaches.
My biggest fear is that she will no longer be the likable, yet socially retarded loner from the first film and they will try and make her into some kind of self loathing, brooding, goth to try and go for a more Columbine approach to fit in with the current "bullying" hubub, which is TOTALLY NOT what Carrie is or should be about. The appealing and tragic thing about Carrie was that she was a sweet kid and she couldn't control her power when she was pushed too far.
