Just came back from it. Thought it was absolutely fantastic! The best new genre film since Scott Pilgrim vs. The World! Loved the Tharks, loved Woola, loved the framing story. I suppose there were some flaws. The "cave of gold" bit seemed a tad underdeveloped, but when the meal is great who cares if one of the rolls is overdone? (answer: the internet)

This is the kind of film I like: adventure. Not exactly action, nor thriller: adventure - preferably with swashbuckling. I enjoyed the two Sherlock Holmes film, flawed though they may be, because they did right by the kind of pulp adventure genre they were aiming for, but this film was much better.

Disney is projecting a $200 million dollar loss on John Carter making it the biggest movie loss ever... literally.

I was going to cheer for this...then I thought, wtf is wrong with me??? Why would you ever root for a film to fail? I didn't like this movie really, there are parts of this film that are great, but I still want films that try to do new things to succeed. And it seems like a lot of the people involved in this film actually have talent, and I wouldn't like to see their careers end over this.

Like this film, love it, hate it...this is still sad to see regardless. (Now if this was Michael Bay I'd have no problems to cheer for a film to fail...might make me a hypocrite but whatevs)

le sigh. Maybe they should have thought a little longer about just how many people would actually want to go watch a movie like this.
