I remember this show. Believe it or not, I have a VHS copy of the Christmas episodes I believe (or something along those lines). I haven't seen this show in forever. I enjoyed it as a kid, but it wasn't a great show by any means at all. I think the most thing about this show that I gave kudos to was all the awesome looking monsters, that's it.

Hope you guys don't mind me sharing, but I did a quick Google Image Search and found a thread on Kaijuphile.com Forums with all the monsters from the show (at least most of them).

http://www.kaijuphile.com/forums/showthread.php?t=20666

I thought it was sort of a neat find. :)

I recall Tattooed Teenage Alien Fighters From Berverly Hills -- I only watched a couple three episodes though. I think it ran on USA, or maybe it was TNT -- I don't recall off hand.

I'm sure many of us will recall Saban's The Mystic Knights of Tir Na Nóg -- an original tokusatsu style production based on Celtic(Irish) mythology. I actually tried to watch this fairly regularly as I liked concept of a toku show based on Irish/Celtic mythology. (not that I knew much about tokusatsu at the time, nor what it was properly called) As I recall Mystic Knights was a pretty good show, it's a shame the second season never materialized.

Someone actually got a hold of Saban's electronic press kit for the show and uploaded it to Youtube (it'd make for a great extra if someone puts out a home video release):

Part 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pUhqEmG6rpA
Part 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j1GRm0hg6jM

And the first half of the episode "The Curse of Kells":

There are some better quality uploads from a German DVD release, but it uses very different opening music; this music here is what was broadcast in the US, Canada, and probably elsewhere and a superior fit for the show.

For some added context, this series came out the same year, 1998, as the much heralded Merlin mini-series, which could be why Saban chose to use Celtic mythology as a basis.

Tattooed Teenage Alien Fighters From Beverly Hills was definitely the worst of the entire fad... Even as a kid I really didn't like it. Beetleborgs was cool though.

One good thing I WILL say about Superhuman Samurai Syber Squad is how they actually kept the sound FX from the original Japanese footage! (Although the music was changed, naturally.) It, and its merchandise, were in a crazy mad rush to capitalize on Power Rangers. (When the Gridman toys were emulated here, the DX figure for Gridman himself didn't have the sound mechanisms! Guess they didn't have time to add them? So what you end up with is an empty battery compartment!)

I can tell that the basis for Tattooed Teenage Alien Fighters from Beverly Hills was going to be the Ultra Series, Andromelos (as it was done on video and had four heroes), but Tsuburaya vetoed its use, because it was an Ultra Series! (And they were not allowed to be Americanized.) So what they ended up with was put together at the last minute. (Indeed, early reports said it was supposed to be from a Japanese series, but it ended up doing a complete 180.) Looked that way to me when I first saw it.
