I'll chime in too. The 60's Batman was campy no doubt, but there was some fine work in the middle of it. Most of the bad guys on the show were very close to their comic counterparts in behavior. Not every superhero has to be "Iron Age...there is no good only the lesser of two evils" type nonsense. The West show was just fine for what it was...and as others have mentioned...it added positive things to the Batman legacy in the comics....and made the character popular enough to bring back to flim in 1989. Nuff said.
PS...for the record...the Burton Batman isn't all that. It hasn't aged well IMO, but to each their own.
