Ikiru

One of my favorite films ever. A masterpiece by Kurosawa...I hope they release this on blu ray some day. There are 4 essential Korosawa films in my book, Seven Samurai, Yojimbo, Sanjuro and Ikiru. I love almost every film that I've seen of his but these are the four that I'll always need to own.

Chillerama

Well, it wasn't as bad as I had heard. There are four segment in this film...the first, Wadzilla, is a smutty but decent mini flick, the second flick Were Bear is horrible. The third part of the film, The Diary of Anne Frankenstein is really the reason to watch this film folks.....f'n hilarious. It's streaming right now on Netflix so if you have that service, why not?

Jaws

One of my favorite films of all time. Nuff said

Rhapsody in August is arguably Kurosawa's worst film since his pre-WW2 era. No, its not awful, and the worst Kurosawa is still better than most things out there. But the writing is just WAY too on the nose and the child actors were just shrill and not that great. Not a total loss though- Richard Gere was impressive considering he learned his Japanese phonetically, and the scene with the ants on the flowers at the ceremony (which Honda directed) is one of the best looking moments in Kurosawa's filmography.

KG, I guess a better question would be what Kurosawas HAVEN'T you seen?

A Christmas Carol (1951)

The "one with Alastair Sim." This is probably the best version of A Christmas Carol, partially due to how beautifully dark is looks and how brilliant Sim is in the title role. You really feel for his Scrooge, and get the feeling that no one is made more wretched by his actions than himself. This film also contains pretty much all the important information from the book - including the bits a lot of adaptations leave out - and manages to find the time to include some original subplots and expand some other bits that do nothing but add to the story, all in a slim 86 minutes!

Gojira

Gave this a re-watch the other day and man, is it glorious! I just love the atmosphere in this film and how people actually FEARED Godzilla and how the fear was conveyed.

Steven King's Bag of Bones

It's okay for the most part. However, they seemed to have rushed the last 30 minutes of it. Many parts could have definitely been better, but I don't want to ruin it for others. Pierce Brosnan did a glorious job acting, but some of the other casts were just.....yeah.....no.

One thing that attracted me the most was the photography. Some, if not most of the scenery was beautiful! Just absolutely amazing!!

3.65/5 for me.
uhh...

Zombie

First time I've ever seen this film. Wow. Hot Italian women. A shark vs. a Zombie with a hot, topless scuba diver chick in the center....this film is crazy, but fun :D

Edit* So I cheated a little. I'm watching the movie currently and already proclaimed its greatness after the shark vs zombie scene. But dear god!! The scene with the woman getting a piece of wood sent through her eye

Great film, great, great, but disgusting film! Best zombie fx ever, and I love how Italian women apparently don't believe in wearing shirts, and they're not all fake and enhanced like most topless women in American movies these days 8-)
