^It's entirely possible that they submitted it to Toho a while ago and never heard on approval...
Anyway, I finally got my DAM Blu-ray and watched it tonight...
what a piece of crap
I mean, all they give us is an amazing presentation of the film, the best it has EVER looked on home video, the japanese audio with subtitles, two different dubs, a commentary, just about every trailer imaginable, RADIO SPOTS!, a wierd little 8mm thing that has no context really but is kind interesting to see, an image gallery, tons of promotional material, trailers for other films (is The Story of Ricky any good? it looks amazing on so many levels), oh AND their own credits for the release
Yeah, not at all difficult to see why this thing was pissing people off with its massive suckitude.
[/end sarcasm]
Anybody whining about the DAM release needs to have their head examined. It is far and away one of the best releases of a Godzilla film we have EVER had.
Honestly, the movie looks so gorgeous, and the AIP dub was such a treat (and it only has noticeable issues during the first three minutes or so...if it bothers you that much, just watch the international dub for the opening monologue, then switch over), the movie may have moved up my favorites ladder a little bit. It still has its flaws (way too much time spent on a story that is quite frankly REALLY simplistic when there should have been a couple of scenes of the world nations trying to fend off the monsters during their initial rampage instead of just looking on impotently), but a release of this quality really helps you appreciate the film more.
