What if....origin ramblings, if they make a new origin for Godzilla. Like it or not, just a thought as to how they could handle it. I kind of like it, but don't worry if you think you'll offend me if you dislike/hate it.

A city is in ruin at the beginning of the movie, people are frightened/confused as to what happened the previous night. A giant monster rose from the ocean and laid waste without warning.

Cut to an old man, intensely smoking a cigarette, another man close to him asks "You're a scientist, what the hell was that thing?" The smoking man gives a look of someone that has just seen the skeleton leave the closet.

"You remember back in the 50's. I was working for Blue Oceana Biological?"

Sure, why?

Well, it was believed we were working on ways to clean up toxins safely in the ocean, a way to help the environment....that wasn't really the case.

Then what were you doing all those years?

We were working on genetic experiments on a remote island outpost in the pacific. 3 years, we experimented on all types of animals, trying to manipulate the genetic code to create super soldiers. Some of what we did was unspeakable.

So what does that have to do with this?

Well, we had many failures with the syrums, but one evening, we heard a commotion at the gorilla cage, when we got out there, the big silverback was on fire and the cage he was in had a molten hole in it. Needless to say the gorilla died, but we had no idea what would have done such a thing. So the next morning we inspected the area, found unusual tracks, leading away from the cage. We followed them to a valley and discovered a new type of reptile. It was about 3 meters long, and walked bi-pedally. We observed it hunting game and killing it with some sort of heat blast that emanated from it's mouth. Never seen anything like it...

So what happened? How does this tie together, that was over 50 years ago?

Well we tranquilized it and put it in our bunker, 4 foot thick, lead lined walls. It was an amazing creature and we planned to bring it back state side. However after all our failures, one evening I was drunk and frustrated, so I tranked it again and injected the syrum. It actually survived but became increasingly violent, not that we didn't contribute to it. We would piss it off just to get it to breathe fire. But now it began to grow and damage the walls and we decided to nuke it in the bunker, it was just too dangerous and we couldn't subdue it. We thought we had killed it and decided to wait till morning to dispose of it....but by morning, it was gone. Blasted a hole right through the walls, and it's footprint was 5 times the original size. Followed the tracks right to the beach where they disappeared....

You can't think this is the same creature after all these years?

I don't think, I know....we created this thing, and after all these years, it looks like it's decided to collect....And if it's ability to heal and withstand injury have increased as well, we may have an unstoppable adversary on our hands....

So we got nukes and genetic experiments (sorta old and new) and a reason for Godzilla's dislike of humans....

Let the flaming begin.... LOL
You must show no mercy, nor have any belief whatsoever in how others judge you... for your greatness will silence them all!

I like it, but I think the less you explain about Godzilla or his fellow kaiju the better.

It's spookier if he just rises up from the ocean one day for no reason. Later maybe, scientists deduce that there are traces of radioactivity present in his footprints or whatever and they hypothesize an origin, or two, for him but they never know for certain. It's like Joker's origin in TDK, it works better because you don't really know for sure. Same thing about the extinctinction of the dinosaurs, it's very, very likely that the asteroid was responsible, but it could have been a plague that did them in after the asteroid struck, or something else.

Mystery is important, it's why characters that wear masks are so enduring.

That being said I did like your little prologue/ Godzilla story exerpt. Liked your dialogue actually
