I don't think a lot of G fans in the USA and perhaps even Canada have seen the Orochi film, so that particular figure may end up being an exclusive. With that in mind, I don't see the USA and Canada retailers stocking that one like the other more well known figures.

So I mentioned earlier I was going to do a review on the new Godzilla MonsterArts. I have many interesting pics to show, so just bare with me, if you feel like your being barraged with tons of pics. Anyways, I got this Godzilla from HLJ. I definitely could have saved about 20 dollars if I had ordered from Amazon with free shipping. I might consider that in the future when ordering Space Godzilla and others. You guys have seen the packaging and how great it is, what with the shiny print, matte finish backing and chrome lettering, so theres no need to comment too much about that, expect that it gets the job done with style!

The figure itself I can say is more impressive in person than what the photos had led me to believe. Its probably the best Godzilla figure I currently own in my collection right now. The set out of the box and its accessories are shown below. Love the breath accessory, despite what other detractors have said.

Image

And definitely the most articulate one of course! But of course its not a perfect figure, since it is mass produced and has your typical paintscuffs etc.... as seen in the pics below

Out of its package the figure has its tail cocked in this position.

Image

The tail doesn’t seem to suffer from limpy tail syndrome yet, and surprisingly despite its bulk the joints are able to hold it up. Time will tell if the joints become looser and weaker over the years. The face is quite something when staring at it without a magnifying glass. The eyes while amazing aren’t perfect as the pupils aren’t staring at you head on. But again its a mass produced figure and even the suits and old Bandai vinyl figures aren’t perfect in that department so I’ll let that slide a bit.

I love the feral look on the head sculpt. Congrats should be given to the toy sculptor that managed to give justice to the character. Being a Heisei design, the figure while possessing many points of articulation is hindered by the suits inherent design/sculpt. Legs can only bend back so far.

Image
Image

Most of the movement is found in the arms, hands, head, and of course the tail. The best part of the figure for me is definitely the tail. Its able to flex and bend very well. And yes it can do a S-curve as Legion previously inquired.

Bandai’s Godzilla line appears to fit in scale with the Revoltechs. Since it is Heisei Godzilla here we know the beast stands 100 metres tall. Heisei Gamera is supposed to stand between 50-60 metres tall. The pics below seem to stay true to the height measurements.

Image

Jesus Gamera is tiny when compared to the big G.
Image

The breath accessory as previously mentioned fits snugly in Godzilla’s mouth. Grooved so that it fits snugly between the jaws and resting on the tongue, it looks great.

Heres the MonsterArts Godzilla next to the old Bandai 6 inch Heisei Godzilla.

I thought the new breath piece suits the old Bandai vinyl very well. :)

Is Godzilla worth it? Most definitely yes. Bandai set out to top Kaiyodo’s Revoltech Scifi line with their own Monsterarts line. I think they have most definitely succeeded. While the quality control is not perfect (nothing ever is) and the price is a bit steep, I do believe my fears have been put to rest with regards to Bandai *ucking up. They have most definitely met and in some ways exceeded my expectations for the final product.

P.S.
Now if you thought i was done with my review, not quite, I have some more pictures with Godzilla. It just occurred to me that Godzilla is actually done in the same scale as 1:700 military models. What does this mean? Find out in my next post! Look forward to it! :D

Well as I said before, I found out recently that the Godzilla Monsterarts line is actually in scale with 1:700 military models. I’ve been going crazy over naval warships, military aircraft and tanks lately, so its only natural that we have our new Monsterarts Godzilla face off against some manmade weapons of mass destruction. What follows below is a size comparison of the ships and subs with Godzilla. Along with a possible battle situation? Enjoy! :D
