I didn't pay much attention to the draft or the preseason games, and am just trying to catch up on what's been going on. I can't help but be worried for the Giants, especially where our defense is concerned. Injuries kicked our ass there. And preseason hasn't exactly been reassuring. Apparently, Manning needs to step it up. So as far as the NFC East goes, Philadelphia's been the division leader for the past two years (IIRC, the Cowboys were a wildcard two years back) and I don't see that changing. Vick's come back and they've done well with the draft. I'm not going to rule out NY until the actual season starts, or Dallas for that matter, but that's what I'm going with for now. The Redskins will probably still suck.

And agreed on Green Bay. The game from yesterday helps prove that argument.

I'm calling it right now. Colt Mccoy will lead the Browns to a play off game after a rocky start to the season. I don't care if we don't make it to the super bowl. I just want to make it to the play offs.

my Packers came out extremely strong on Thursday night... that rookie Cobb had a great game despite supposedly running the wrong route on that TD pass  he's also lucky he ran back that kickoff when he should have knelt in the endzone. I feel good for the kid though.

the Saints had a really rough start in that game, but they started to pull it together. I think they'll do a lot better this year

Random Week 1 thoughts:

- I figured the loss of Peyton Manning would be an issue for the Indianapolis Colts, but the last thing I expected to see on ESPN.com was them getting utterly blown out by the Houston. And if that wasn't shocking enough, Flacco got his first win against Pittsburgh when the Ravens annihilated the Steelers in what people were saying would probably be one of the more competitive games that week. Steelers had somewhere near seven or eight turnovers. Also, wow Chiefs... just wow.

- The Giants were a mess. I lost count of how many times Eli Manning got sacked, and our offense was especially terrible. Just awful. The Redskins' six-game losing streak against New York came to an end yesterday. Redskins, our divisional rivals, beat us 28-14. Embarrassing.

- The Philadelphia Eagles beat the St. Louis Rams 31-13, but Vick didn't play as well as last season. If they were playing a better team that afternoon, they would have had a lot more trouble. Rams' RB Steven Jackson got injured early on, and I don't think the Rams really recovered from that. Meanwhile, the New York Jets and the Dallas Cowboys competed amongst one another to see who among them could play worse. Dallas won, as they blew a 14-point lead, Romo fumbled, proceeded to thrown an interception when there was no reason to do so, and a punt attempt was converted into a TD for the Jets. I actually hate both teams, so I was happy to see them both suck.

I'm still in shock that the Bills and Lions are 3-0... and the circumstances of those winning records too. This is a great season so far!

Of course, my Packers are also 3-0. :P

I wanted to hit someone after seeing Eli Manning get picked off at the end of the Giants' game.

I honestly can't believe that the NFC East standings currently have the Washington Redskins at the top and the Philadelphia Eagles at the bottom. Of the three teams I could have seen taking either spot, Redskins and Eagles certainly weren't them.

I'm also very anxious to see how The Pack does against the Lions. That might be the game of the season for whoever wins. I expect lots of penalties from the Pack as they get frustrated. :/

The Giants-Patriots game really came down to the wire, but in the end I was pleasantly surprised, considering that I had been expecting us to lose. From a 0-0 stalemate at the end of the first half to a 24-20 victory and I believe we're the first team to beat New England at home all season. I honestly thought that the Patriots had us beat when they somehow converted a 4th & 8 into a touchdown (seriously!? how the hell did the Giants' D let that happen?), but New York managed to rally in the last two minutes and bring us back. Most of the praise really has to go to our defense, for their performance throughout most of the game (especially the first half, considering our offense was lackluster), and Tom Brady for turning the ball over about four times. Next week has us against the 49ners, so hopefully we'll win that too.

Cowboys won and Redskins lost, so the NFC East standings now look like...

Giants (6-2)
Cowboys (4-4)
Eagles (3-4)
Redskins (3-5)

It'll be interesting to see how the Eagles perform against the Bears tomorrow. If they play like they did last week, then they'll probably be the biggest threat to the Giants' as far as leadership of the NFC East goes. Either them or the Cowboys, who certainly have an easier schedule than we do.

Being in Mile High Stadium must help God hear Tebow's prayers even better...9 of 20 for 104 yards passing and you win...unreal.
