I've seen that movie so many times I really don't want to ever watch it again.

Speed Racer

"Inspector Detector suspected fowl play!"

Three years late, but I suppose it flopped and a lot of people missed it - which is too bad as this film is surprisingly excellent! It captures the same magic the original cartoon did: over-the-top ridiculousness done in a completely straight-faced, un-ironic manner. Despite how silly the film gets the actors (and this has a great cast by the way) really give it their all and bless 'em for doing so!

I suspect this film will be like Robert Altman's Popeye: loved by a few and incomprehensible to outsiders.

The Edge (1997)

This movie was just amazing!! I loved the story, the photography, the cinematography, the score, the acting, everything!! It was just really good and I want to watch it again. Hopkins just really knows how to act. I recommend this movie indeed.

The original Submersion of Japan. I really just cycle through my collection, but this one came this weekend following the earthquake/tsunami disaster and Sakyo Komatsu's passing, and it just became incredibly appropriate.

The Blues Brothers

"Are you the police?"
"No mam, we're musicians."

One of the greatest movies ever made, chock-full of great comedy and great music combining into an epic (and I mean epic in the purest sense of the word as Jake and Elwood's quest is a match for Odysseus' own) motion picture for the ages.

The Godfather Part 2
I had never seen this movie before...good, but I didn't love it. The ending felt unsatisfying...

Conan the Barbarian - Goofy fun.

Our Idiot Brother - I really enjoyed this. A decent story/script and a cast that I approve of wholeheartedly. My favorite Paul Rudd film easily.

There's a documentary on Frazetta called Painting with Fire. I thought it was good enough to see if you're into Frank's work.

The Flame and the Arrow

Awesome 1950s swashbuckler starring Burt Lancaster as a basically Robin Hood-type figure but in medieval Italy instead of England. Although it follows the pattern established by Robin and Zorro films before it there's enough extra twists and embellishments to this story to make it stand on its own.

The Crimson Pirate

Another awesome Lancaster swashbuckler, this time a proper pirate romp the likes of which blows away any Johnny Depp simulation! It's pretty comedic, with lots of slapstick and such, but it all works well. Lancaster's real life friend Nick Cravat steals the show as the mute sidekick (apparently his thick Brooklyn accent would have been out of place). Cravat is an incredible acrobat and excels in Harpo Marx-esque mime (and he apparently played the gremlin in that Twilight Zone episode!).

Return of the Jedi (1983) - Harmy's Despecialized Edition HD. Harmy concludes his unbelievable salvation of the original cuts of Star Wars. Seriously, I never thought I'd see the theatrical version (or a darn near perfect reconstruction of it) in such high quality since Lucas went off the deep end... It may not be as good as it's predecesors, but the swashbuckling at the Sarlacc, the epic conclusion of Luke & Vader's confrontation, and the jaw-dropping space battle still make it a solid conclusion to the trilogy.

The Muppet Movie

First time I've seen it since I was very little (I'm gonna try to see as much Muppet stuff I can before the new flick comes out). This film is both very silly (and funny) and very sweet. There are moments of real poignancy there.

And the Paul Williams songs are fantastic.

The Rise of the Planet of the Apes

This movie was good! The acting was decent, the story was interesting. The apes were cool and awesome, especially Caesar! It was just an overall great film, with a great score as well! It makes me want to watch the originals. :)

The Muppets Take Manhattan

I didn't like this one nearly as much. I mean, it's an okay movie, but it lacks the sense of joy the original film has... in fact, for most of the runtime the plot is rather depressing.
