Just watched the 1990's Captain America film all the way through for the first time. IT'S TERRIBLE :D. I mean, overall it's bad, but it does a couple of weird things...like why does Red Skull stop being recognizably Red Skull? Why is he Italian? Why does the film suck so much? All questions I may never have answered. [/i]

Buried

Talk about a great film. I don't know, this film did a great atmospherically and most of all, psychologocially. I really kept thinking the same thought, "I'd hate to be in that position." The ending was actually somewhat both expected and unexpected. It was, in a way, bittersweet. I loved how it ended, but I just hate it as well, and I mean that entirely in a good way. Ryan Reynolds was an amazing actor in this film, he did a really job adding a lot of emotion into the character. All in all, I must say I recommend this film to anyone who enjoys being on the edge of their seat, cause this movie was amazing! :D

^^I think it's just titled "Buried" not "The Buried" for anyone interested in viewing the film.

Kiss of the Spider Woman

I continue my tradition of starting to watch a movie on TCM right as I intended to go to sleep only to watch the film all-the-way-through into 3 o'clock in the morning.

Anyway, this is a great sort of anti-fascist movie starring Raul Julia as a jailed revolutionary and John Hurt as his homosexual cellmate (a role for which he won the Oscar). I felt a bit obligated to see this movie since Julia has a reputation as a great actor yet all of his films I've seen are pretty poor (except for the second Addams Family film, which I liked).

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows Pt 2- Ya know, I have a hard time following these things because I see them all once and forget about them. So this movie confused the heck out of me... and I still don't really "get" this series. Not a bad movie though, I guess. Like I said, I just never "got it" so its just kinda there.

Captain America- Liked it quite a bit. Not as much as Iron Man 1, Thor, or the Incredible Hulk, but still damn good.

Blow Out- Underrated Brian De Palma thriller with a wonderfully bleak and heartbreaking ending. On the excellent Criterion Blu-Ray that just came out.

Three Ages

One of Buster Keaton's earliest feature films, and he decided to play it safe: it's really three different short films that could have been split up into such had the feature been a total flop. Buster stars in each story about a love triangle that follow basically the same structure: one in the stone age, one in ancient Rome, and one in modern day. The film cuts back and forth between the three stories. As a result of this it doesn't quite play well as a movie, and because all three stories have to follow a simple story and be easy to follow so we can compare them to one another it prevents them from being as sophisticated and brilliant as Keaton's best shorts - still, there's a whole lot of funny stuff and stunts in this.

The Mark of Zorro

Another silent film! This 1920 film started it all: the first Zorro (who's pulp novel was only published a year before) and the first Douglas Fairbanks swashbuckler - basically kick starting the entire film genre! I liked the 1940s film version of Zorro, and nothing tops that film's big climax, but this film is superior. For one thing, in the '40s films Diego just used Zorro as a bogeyman to scare the bad guys. He's not really serious about the whole masked avenger thing. It's only temporary ruse, we only see him as Zorro a few times, and he drops the persona by film's end. The Fairbanks film, on the other hand, is wall-to-wall Zorro and lots of action. Zorro is not only a great swordsman, but a trickster, who often pulls pranks while he's fighting to humiliate and infuriate his opponents.

Rebirth of Mothra

Second time seeing it on Encore! Action (they've been playing all the Rebirth of Mothra films and some Godzilla movies, lately).

Anyways, I don't know, I just can't stand watching this movie. The score is good, but I don't think it fits the film at all. Other than that, the acting was bad, and the dubbing was horrible. If I had to rate the film out of five stars, I'll give it a 2/5.

Tomorrow Rebirth of Mothra III is going to be on tomorrow night, so I'll probably give that a watch.
