I'm sure licensees hope the Legendary movie gets made sooner rather than later since it will increase Godzilla's visibility (and hopefully their sales). But Toho's been licensing the character to American companies for decades, and each year there will be some new Christmas ornament, or Bandai Creation figures, or a T-shirt, or some DVDs, etc. So I don't see the Godzilla comic books or the board game as preparation for the Legendary film, but just business as usual for Godzilla licensing.
