Heroic Gomora Reference List!

Postby RaymondBurr » Mon Jun 13, 2011 9:15 pm

Hello, I am a long time G-Fan, but new to the Club Tokyo boards. Thanks for hosting such a great big community of kaiju fans.

I've never followed Ultraman or other Japanese Super Heroes much--except to see Toho monsters in cameos. But, I recently came across some clips on YouTube featuring the Ultra-Monster Gomora. I was surprised to see him battling other monsters like Godzilla or Gamera (or Ultraman) would! The much-maligned Wikipedia told me that these clips might have been from a tv series called "Ultra Galaxy Mega Monster Battle" and "Ultra Galaxy Mega Monster Battle: Never Ending Odyssey" --both awesome names, btw! :)

Are DVDs available of these series? I was hoping that you guys could help point me in the right direction. Also, are there any other movies or series where Gomora takes on other monsters? My DVD player is All-Region capable, so I don't mind buying R2 stuff. But, if it is only available from un-official sources, please PM me.

Thanks guys, I appreciate your help!

EDIT: Here is the list, as most recently updated.

Hi guys,

Thanks for your replies here and via PM. I'm trying to put together a list of Gomora-as-Monster-Fighter movies/tv. Could I ask for your comments and revisions?

Movies
*Mega Monster Battle: Ultra Galaxy (大怪獣バトル ウルトラ銀河伝説 THE MOVIE, Daikaijū Batoru Urutora Ginga Densetsu Za Mūbī)
*Ultra Galaxy Legend Gaiden: Ultraman Zero vs. Darklops Zero (ウルトラ銀河伝説外伝 ウルトラマンゼロVSダークロプスゼロ, Urutora Ginga Densetsu Gaiden: Urutoraman Zero VS Dākuropusu Zero)
- Cosmic Collision (衝突する宇宙 Shōtotsu suru Uchū) "Stage I"
- Zero's Suicide Zone (ゼロの決死圏 Zero no Kesshiken) "Stage II"

TV Series
*Ultra Galaxy Mega Monster Battle (ウルトラギャラクシー大怪獣バトル, Urutora Gyarakushī Daikaijū Batoru)
*Ultra Galaxy Mega Monster Battle: Never Ending Odyssey (ウルトラギャラクシー大怪獣バトル NEVER ENDING ODYSSEY, Urutora Gyarakushī Daikaijū Batoru Nebā Endingu Odessei)

I have a couple of remaining questions too, that I haven't been able to clarify. Was the "Ultra Galaxy Legend Gaiden" released as "Stage I" and "Stage II" when it was put out on DVD? ...or is this another series/movie altogether? (...ugh... Ultraman is so complicated!)

Also, do you guys know if Gomora is in "Ultraman Zero: The Revenge of Belial"?

Thanks again for all of your help, gentlemen!

R.B.

Wow, you're right. I could have sworn it was an Ultra Galaxy film, not Mebius, but I never got around to watching it subbed for whatever reason.

EDIT: I went ahead and watched the GUIS subbed version of it, just to get it out of the way. It's a nice little two-part video, but yeah, there's no Gomora action to be found at all, and other than introducing the Giga Battlenizer's existence, doesn't make for must-have viewing before Ultra Galaxy Legends anyway.

Other than fixing the duplicate listing, RaymondBurr, you have all the "heroic Gomora" action you'll be able to find to-date.

Thanks BaltanII, kiryugoji04, and August for your help. I've revised the list and embedded links to Amazon Japan (color coded blue). How does this look?
