You're all probably wondering why the MZ boards most infamous Gamera detractor is starting a thread in this section.

It goes back to a recent debate between giantdevilfish and myself on the Godzilla vs Gamera thread in the Kaiju Fantasy Fights section. Giantdevilfish took me to task for comments I made over a year ago regarding what I thought needed to be done to improve Gamera. I once said that Gamera would work better without tusks, or wallking upright, or flying. And that Gamera would work better portrayed more along the lines of a quadrupedal snapper turtle.

I was giving this some thought at work about 2 days ago and something occurred to me.

The changes made might make for a cool tortoise based kaiju, but it wouldn't be Gamera. Altering Gamera in such a way would be nothing more than GINO revisited. Dean Devlin made a mistake in giving us the Godzilla he thought should be seen, rather than the established character we all know. And that is something I would never, ever want to see happen again.

I was wrong. Gamera is fine the way he is. Here's hoping he stays that way.
