I just got finished reading it.
While I agree that the nuke thing was pretty quick, it does seem as if some time as passed from Godzilla's first landing all the way to the decision to use the nuke. By the time they're discussing the monster, hundreds have died and they've already determined the conventional weapons are worthless. Considering they've only got a few pages to truly establish Godzilla, I'm fine with it, as it actually does serve a purpose.
I would probably have waited a couple issues to build up the nuclear strike (and have a different country do it, so it makes more sense), but then we'd have to wait months for any other monsters to appear.
Given that the comic is short, I'm happy they went this route. Powell and Marsh made it clear that there are no recurring characters and the story, for the first "arc" anyway, is that the world is slowly crumbling. Thus, it only makes sense (IMO) to make the first issue about Godzilla destroying the city. The artwork is fantastic and I absolutely love the look of Godzilla here. I imagine the first few issues might focus more on the monster destruction, getting Godzilla, Angurius, Rodan, etc. on the scene.
I give it a 3/5. A lot of fun, establishes Godzilla and gives an explanation for his powers, and the art is great. The story is rather shallow (much like most of the movies) and moves a bit too fast for my liking, but it's easy to understand given that the book is so short. I'll definitely be getting the next one.
