While there's the remote chance someone here is interested in seeing the Revoltechs of Mike and Sully, I'm mainly posting this magazine scan to show off that Kaiyodo does indeed love Gyaos enough to release a limited black/red version. As I can't translate this and it hasn't been discussed elsewhere yet, I don't know the precise story behind how this exclusive will be released.

While I love Gyaos, he is starting to become the "Desu-Goji/Hedorah/Godzilla 92-94" when it comes to Gamera figures....would love to see different Gamera foes get some love for a change....oh well. :-\

Not to continue dragging this off topic, but, Legion, I think you're thinking too narrowmindedly about the lines of figures...

There really are a lot of heisei toys. And while I was in Japan for only two weeks a few years ago, I would agree that the Heisei version was probably the most common (followed closely by various millennium versions).

Just to name a few...

But again, is that really a surprise? All of that stuff dates to 1994 at the latest. All of it was made while the 1992-94 version was the current Godzilla and the movies and merchandise were making money hand over fist. Of course you're going to keep finding this stuff. They made more than enough of it. And of course it's going to feature that particular Godzilla, since he was the one appearing in all the movies the merchandise was promoting.

But let's jump to the present. How many toys based on the 1992-94 Godzilla have been made in the past 5-10 years? Not many, aside from the 6" figure Bandai keeps reissuing. In the grand scheme of what companies have done in the past few years the 1992-94 Heisei Godzilla has actually been under-represented. Burning Godzilla is far more popular, with the 1989/91 version coming second.

Complaining that you're tripping over so many toys that were made 15-20 years ago doesn't really prove that this particular version of Godzilla is being overdone today.

^^^which is pretty much what Ebirahsmeg said... They're older toys but are still probably the most readily available. I don't see what the point of this conversation is anymore.... we (in general) seem to be arguing different sides but saying the same thing....

I guess to sum it up (& hopefully end the conversation so the thread can get back on track...), The heisei Godzilla, while older and not receiving much new toy attention, is still readily available in Japan & therefore new heisei toys are not all that exciting to someone living in Japan b/c of all the excess old heisei stuff. Meanwhile, for those of us stateside, we don't see the dearth of old 90's stock & only have "easy" access to newer figures, of which the heisei era has been relatively ignored & therefore new heisei figures are much more exciting to us.

SOOOOOOOO, how about those Showa Gamera Revoltechs??
