Hi folks,

The family and I are all OK, as is our house. We're in Sano, Tochigi Prefecture, where we got a real serious shaking (nearly shindo 6 on the Japanese intensity scale) but no substantial damage.

HobbyLink Japan and all its staff are fine, too...we spent the whole weekend putting everything back together.

We were indeed very lucky. Compared to the hard hit areas, we've got no problems.

Its been a while since I've watched the original Sinking of Japan (hated the remake), but a lot of this footage from the tsunamis is reminding me of that film. Maybe I'll give it a watch some time this week.

I managed to make it through the quake, the aftershocks, and a short, awesomely fun trip to Osaka and Kyoto while I evaluated the emerging info.

Crazy times, and a disaster for sure, but this is my second major quake in Japan and I can tell you that the pieces will get picked up. Everyone across the nation is doing what they can to get through it.
