Outside of the fact that it features the same characters, does the popularity (or the lack thereof) of the 1960's Batman have anything to do with The Dark Knight Rises?
If this is what you guys would like to talk about then by all means be my guest. But isn't the new movie a more pertinent and more interesting subject?
So, anyway...
A lot of internet critics are worried that this will turn into Spider-Man 3. Anyone in that camp?
I don't think so, because the Spider-Man franchise followed the classic model of superhero movies (superhero vs. new villain). Spider-Man 2 was the masterpiece of that format, but it became overblown and contrived in Spider-Man 3.
With BB and TDK, Nolan rewrote the format of the superhero movie where it is much more of a fully populated world. It's not just superhero vs. supervillain(s).
