I just wanted to say the Making Of documentary on the Monsters Blu-Ray is fantastic, maybe better than the movie itself.
I didn't know the movie only had 4 crew members! 4 crew members, 2 cast members, virtually no real lighting equipment, and less than half a million bucks. It was basically a home movie that turned out really good and got distributed. A pretty incredible feat if I don't say so myself. And so many shots and sets were completed digitally and its impossible to even tell. VERY clever film making!
The doc really shows the setbacks one can go through in guerrilla/amateur film making. Hopefully anyone wondering about Gareth Edwards as a person and director will check it out. After watching that documentary, my enthusiasm behind LP's choosing him has only increased. I can't wait to see what this guy can do with a real budget behind him.
