As far as Otani's score for GMK goes, I'm pretty torn. The themes for Godzilla, the military, and especially Tachibana are real winners for me, but I absolutely abhor the stuff used for Mothra and King Ghidorah. The synthesizers don't really bother me, as the blending of electronic and orchestral music can work quite well when done right (though at the end of the day, I'm still partial to the traditional orchestra). An uneven score for an uneven picture in my book.
My vote still goes to Michael Giacchino for the new film. It may be a long shot, but he's proven himself worthy of such material with his past efforts. While I like Hans Zimmer, I don't think his style really meshes with Godzilla. It might be interesting to see the approach that composers like Howard Shore, Clint Mansell, and James Newton Howard might take to the project.
