Hmmm.....not really sure how to react. I have never had such conflicting feelings/emotions to a particular Godzilla design.
On one hand, there are times when I find myself really digging some of Phil Hester's (and Powell's) take on these creatures and think they're pretty damn cool. But then the next minute, I end up *really* despising some of their takes on Godzilla. Very strange feelings indeed...never really felt this way before.
Well, in this picture, I do think Godzilla's head and skin texture/scales are *very* cool. The pupil-less eyes, which I could do without, don't look that bad in this pic. Overall, very nice design in general. :th-up:
However, the Trendmasters "bicep" arms are *HORRBLE*, and the strange dorsal fins (it's like he's trying to combine traditional showa fins, mellinium fins, and GINO's fins (
Now, am I going to be bitter about this? Not really. Despite some of my disappointment with the monster designs so far, I am still excited about this comic (I think the storyline sounds very fun), and while I am not crazy about the some of the artwork, at least the monsters actually *resemble* their film counterparts. That being said, there's *A LOT* of room for improvement, and I look forward to seeing different artists' takes on these creatures down the road.
