The Rodan, Mogera and Mothra Revoltechs were basically Christmas presents to myself and since we've pretty much been snowed in here on the east coast for a couple of days I figured it was a good time to play around with these figures a little bit and finally snap some photos of them. I didn't unpack all the accessories when I took picture though. Just the necessary ones.
I like Rodan the more I break it in. I wasn't expecting this much articulation to be honest. The head can move forward and back or side to side (though because of the type of joint Revoltech uses never at the same time) and can turn a full 360. That's a great variety of motion there and with the mouth that opens (not very wide, but it opens) Rodan has a lot of personality you don't see on most figures of this guy. The waist articulate is also very useful for dramatic poses.
The wings are great. You can get more poses out of them than you'd think. Even the little claws can move up and down. I was even surprised by how easy it was to stand the figure without placing it on the building it comes with. Granted it looks better on the building but at least it does stand. The bendable wing tips are a nice touch too. The pictures really don't show just how nice this figure is.
As far as the Toho Revoltechs go so far I'd probably rate Rodan as my second favorite of the bunch, second only to Baragon. They really pulled off a winner hear and added more articulation than I thought possible. I'd go on record as saying this i probably one of the very best Rodan toys ever made. It perfectly retains the spirit of the original Rodan. If you haven't already picked this up and are on the fence about it, get it.
I'll post my thoughts on the other two soon.
