Let me be more clear..... this is supposed to be the ill-fated Norwegian camp, where there were no survivors, yes?

Without reading any details of this movie, or WANTING to....Now they've put Americans there? A female cast member for whatever demographic purposes....love interest, attracting female viewers, whatever.... ie pandering to audience demographics.

All I was really alluding to was that it would not surprise me if they had someone in this movie (or more than one individual) escape this camp and head back to civilization. Possibly female character. Possibly infected. Possibly setting up possibility for more Thing prequel/sequels taking place away from Antarctica.

I don't like it anymore than anyone else. It just seems that they would find some way of getting the alien off Antarctica and into an attempted franchise.

...or into another dreaded "trilogy".

ergo: Numbnuts filmmaking. :?

with a movie like this, NO ridiculous ending, however nonsensical, would surprise me.

i am vehemently opposed to this.

i will partially withdraw my criticisms about the Americanization (still think it's stupid that there would be Americans on the Norwegian base...) but i can't get even remotely kind of excited.

Starting off the film in America just reaks of bad script writing...it's a dead, dull way to start the story and it's not gonna tell us anything that a line or two of exposition couldn't at the base camp in Antartica...

Apparently the teaser was pretty good though and from what I can make out of the leaked teaser...well, that's just it...I can't really make out anything from the leaked footage because it's so crappy.

It is possible that they can throw us a few curve balls here with the addition of a woman ( who is stupidly hot for a movie where she is supposed to be a pilot or something ala Denise Richards in The World is Not Enough) and having her be a foreigner. On one hand the men may want to sympathise with her because she is a woman but at the same time it's human nature to distrust those that are different than you and having her be the lone American seemingly might be interesting as far as exploring some different types of group dynamics...

All of this being said I want to like this movie but I've been burned so many times before with this type of stuff that I am merely holding out for something approx. as good as Predators was last summer...but I fear we might be getting something more in line with AvP or Terminator Salvation here

The Thing prequel (confusingly titled The Thing) has been yanked from Universal's 2011 release schedule and release is now TBA. Oh darn.

http://www.dreadcentral.com/news/40920/ ... 1-schedule

Damn, its not even 2011 yet. How does a movie get yanked for the year before that year even comes about? Oh well, I don't care about this thing anyway.
