I watched GOTU last night. While it wasn't a great looking transfer, it was still much better then the ADV DVD release. The sound was good too. For $5.49, it's definately worth upgrading from the ADV releases.

So, to the movie. It's been like 3-4 years since I've seen GOTU. Back then I would of told you that GOTU was my favorite of the trilogy, but my enjoyment from watching this film has decreased this time around. I thought the special effects were really poor, and the CGI was horrible in most cases. Recently I watched Godzilla vs Destoroyah, which was made in the same year, and the special effects in that film are far more better. The story in GOTU is perfectly fine, but the special effects really turned me away this time around. I'm sure Attack of Legion or Revenge or Iris will take the place of my favorite film of the trilogy. I watched it dubbed(for my wife), so maybe that killed it a little for me too.

DESTOROYAH has better SPX than GAMERA:GOTU?

Uhh, definitely NOT in the miniatures department, I'll tell you that much.

Overall, yes, Destoroyah has better SPX. But yes, the mini Desos running around was pretty bad though! lol

GOTU used too much CGI. The missiles looked horrible etc.

I thought GotU was a much better film than Destroyer. It's been a while since I've seen it so I need to go back and revisit it. I really need a bluray player badly and I'm hoping I'll get one for Christmas. I may go ahead and pick up this gamera double feature while it's still cheap.
